(Jan. 25, 2006)
The journalist Li Changqing is sentenced three years, according to the verdict by Gulou Court of FuZhou City, on Jan. 24 (Beijing time).

Li Changqing is charged with publishing "fabricated" and "alarmist" reports.

Li Changqing was arrested and charged with "subversion state power" because his articles in Boxun supporting Huang Jingao. Huang Jingao, former secretary of the party of Lianjiang County, got life sentence on charges of "corruption" after he published his article about the dangerous situation in anti-corruption. People believe that Huang Jingao was revenged for his efforts to crash down corruptions. Huang Jingao received a few death warnings because his efforts. His efforts angered the senior officials and mafia in Fuzhou.

The sentence to Li Changqing is the most radiculous in recent years. The denggue fever first appeared on Sept. 9, 2004 in Fuzhou, Boxun reported on Oct. 12, 2004, Fuzhou government announced the incident on Oct. 15, 2004. It is perfectly true that Fuzhou government tried to hide the incident.

Boxun reported "a little over 100 infected", the officially confirmed number is 94. If this is "fabricated" report, what can a journalist do in China? The officials put Li Changqing in jail should shame themselves.
