Burmese DPNS 's Press Conference

(Dec. 13, 2005) By Maung Chan (Burma's Chinese )

The SPDC regime, soon after the Rangoon bomb-explosions on May 7,2005,accused firmly of three "terrorist organisations " having done the crime:

1).the DPNS (Democratic Party for a New Society ), 2).the Vigorous Students Warriors of the All Burma Students' Democratic Front and 3).the Federation of the Trade Union of Burma . (boxun.com)

The Democratic Party for a New Society (DPNS),was established on October14, 1988. It was at that time the second biggest organization in Burma after the National League for Democracy (NLD).

The Democratic Party for a New Society (DPNS) did not compete in the 1990 general elections, but campaigned to support as much as it could for the NLD.

The junta banned this party in 1991. So it moved to the Thai-Burma border and work for:

1. Uniting Burman organisations and ethnic nationalities for sake of the national reconciliation of Burma.

2.solidarity with international community, especially the US-based National Endowment for Democracy, the International Republican Institute and other political organizations in Europe.

The Democratic Party for a New Society (DPNS )is a member of the Anti-junta united people's organisations, i.e. the Democratic Alliance of Burma (DAB), the National Council of the Union of Burma (NCUB) and the Forum for Democracy in Burma formed in 2004..

Its current Party's Chairman is Aung Moe Zaw.

Very recently Chairman Aung Moe Zaw gave an interview to the New Era Journal etc at the Thai-Burma border.

According to Chairman Aung Moe Zaw ,

1.His party upholds the non-violence struggle for freedom, democracy and human-rights and believes in the principle "through peaceful dialogue to solve Burma Issue politically".

2.The junta has banned all activities of NLD, closed its party offices everywhere in Burma, jailed and assassinated NLD's leaders, threatened the grassroots cadres and members with prisons, guns and agents. By this way the NLD 's movements have been oppressed for nearly 16 years.

3. Those opponents who have exiled abroad are not unpatriotic. They contribute to Burma's revolution from outside as much as they can.

4.The junta has used the military force to oppress the ethnicnationalities'resistances .The armed struggles reacted by the ethnic people are absolutely justice and right.

5.We support the people's DEMO-2006 project of the Communist Party of Burma . We support all our people's movements.

Regarding to the Burma policy of foreign countries, Chairman Aung Moe Zaw points out:

1.To our people's struggle for freedom, democracy and human rights, USA support the most firmly and strongly. EU needs to do better and more. ASEAN must apply much more pressure to the junta.

2.As for China's policy towards Burma, Chairman Aung Moe Zaw tells us:

--In fields of political, economical and social developments, China is of the strategic importance.

--China should have sympathised and supported the suffering people of Burma. However, China ,same as before, has been supporting its best the dictatorial and anti-people junta.

--We have never asked China for any financial or material assistances .We hope only deeply that China will help Burma in her stability, peace and the national reconciliation.

--We have our channels to contact with China. However, to my sad disappointment, China is interested only in all what the western countries pay us, but shows no interest in the sufferings of the Burmese people.
