Poor Students finally Get Free Tax Books, But In Different Color
It has been criticized that China does not have the free education for elementary schools. Instead, most schools charge tuition because the government does not invest in education much. The law requires government invest its 6% or so GNP in education, the actual % is claimed to be about 2%. This has made China the country that invests least in education on the earth, lower than Uganda, and leaves millions of kids out of school each year.Shamed by the ridiculously low invest in education, the government is asking schools stop charging tuition to poor families. It did not say whether the government will increase invest. According to a Chinese newspaper, poor students are getting free textbooks this fall, but in different color - black and white.
