Internet Essayist Chen Shaowen was Released
(Aug. 08, 2005)According to Writers in Prison Committee of Chinese Independent Pen, Internet essayist Chen Shaowen was released on August 5th after three years in jail.
Chen Shaowen was arrested on August 6, 2002 because of his Internet articles about unemployment and complaining the unfairness. He was sentenced five years in Feb. 2003, then the sentence changed to three years after his appeal.
Writers in Prison Committee of Chinese Independent Pen said that Chen Shaowen has health problem, he was beaten up by police in this May. (boxun.com)
