Internet Writer - Zhang Lin is Sentenced Five years
(Aug. 02, 2005)August 2nd (BJ time), Zhang Lin - an active Internet writer in Anhui, received five years sentence.
His wife was informed by Justice about this verdict.
Zhang Lin was arrested on Jan. 29, 2005, since then he has not been visited by his family members. He was put in a 20 square-meter room with 18 others, almost no place to sleep. (boxun.com)
According to Human Rights in China (HRIC), the charge sheet drawn up by the prosecutor says that the content of the articles posted by Zhang "opposed the basic principles of the Constitution, damaged national unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity, spread falsehoods, disturbed social order and damaged social stability". Zhang Lin published hundreds of article in Boxun, Dajiyuan and a few other websites.
Zhang Lin was trialed on June 21st.
Zhang Lin is one of many jailed Internet writers in China.
