"Streptococcosis Suis"

According to Health Department of Sichuan, by July 29 (BJ time), there are 32 dead, 24 in serious situation, 163 infected in total.

Government claims the disease is "Streptococcosis Suis", people, including experts of Hong Kong and Taiwan, are suspicious about this conclusion. Health Department of HongKong has sent three medical experts to Sichuan.

The messages on BBS of China said that there should be more deaths than reported.

Beijing has issued a statement to public, the capital city ahs setup hotlines and it asks residence to report suspicious pork or disease.

It is hard for people to accept the conclusion that the disease is transferred by blood. In countryside of China, each family has one or two pigs. When the pigs grow up, farmers will sell. It is not like large scale factory in developed countries. The cases in Sichuan is wide scattered among different villages, why did it explode suddenly? There should be a better explanation.

Bird flu

One message to Boxun by anoymous source said about 200 people from three villages diasppeared. Until we receive pictures or other source of information, Boxun considers this information is very unreliable.(Modified on 2005/7/30)
