(Jan. 24, 2003) Mr. Lin found his home in the East District of Beijing had been demolished after two days travel, according to the JingHua Times (a local Beijing newspaper). All his personal belongings and furniture had disappeared. When Mr. Lin returned home on the 17th he was astonished by what he saw. He contacted the company responsible for re-construction in his area, but the company denied all knowledge of the demolition. Mr. Lin then called the police. On June 26th 2002, Boxun reported a similar story in Beijing. A 73 year old lady was evicted from her 400 year old home because a company was redeveloping the area. Her family called the police but they did not intervene.
