Worker's head was cut off in factory
(Aug. 08, 2002) On August 7th, at around 10am, a worker - Jiang Zhilin in Chongzhou, Sichuan was killed by an accident in the product line. His head was cut off by the falling down elevator.
When other workers heard a noise and came to look, they found the head of Jiang was gone. At aroung 1pm, his head was found in the passage of elevator.
The factory has been ordered to stop production.
According to Huaxi City Daily, Jiang's parents are over 80 years old, and his daughter is in high school. Jiang is the only source of his family income, the accident is a disaster to his family.
When such an accident happened, families can receive relatively less compensation than the income that would be made if the worker continue to work. This unfair situation has been ignored by media and the world. Most people in China take it granted for a family to suffer economically if a worker lost his life or ability to work in production accidents. In western countries, the family can claim large amount of compensation for such a loss.
